GSC Amateurs 2
Thomas Veitch (1)
Chris Cadman (1)
Muirend 1

GSC played their first League game of the season at Huntly against Local rivals Muirend.
Muirend started brightly and only good defending by GSC kept the scoreline blank. On one of their first attacks GSC's Martin Cohen hit a fierce drive from 25 yards that struck the crossbar, Chris Cadman was first to the rebound and slammed home the opener for the second game in a row. Muirend pushed for the equaliser but Sommerville and his defence were eager to keep them out. Armour and Cadman both limped off before half time and were replaced with McBride and C. O'Donnell respectively.
Muirend pressed in the second half, but just could not find a way through. T. O'Donnell was replaced by Fry with 25 mins to go. Ten minutes later Veitch cut in from the right beat two men and unleashed a 25 yard left foot drive that gave GSC a two goal advantage. However with eight minutes remaining Hampton was sent off after been cautioned for a second time. The second card appears to be a case of mistaken identity. Anyway Muirend scored from the resultant free kick before Hampton even reached the changing room. After a frantic last few minutes GSC held on to pick up the three points.
