CLUB HISTORY
ABOUT US (25/06/07)

Giffnock Soccer Centre (GSC) was founded in 1995 by a group of Dads keen to teach their boys the rudiments of football in a safe and fun environment.

Since then the Soccer Centre has continued to flourish and is now one of the biggest of its type in the south side, if not the country, with over 600 boys and girls currently at the club.

At primary age level we have around 350 kids, many of who play in one of our 4 and 7-a-side teams participating in the East Renfrewshire Soccer Development Association (ERSDA) set up. GSC normally enters 3 or 4 teams for each primary age group in the ERSDA leagues.

The remaining primary kids receive coaching from our SFA certificated volunteers at our Soccer Centres, which run throughout the year.

GSC continues through to S5/6 and beyond with our teams competing in various leagues including Glasgow and Distrcit (formerly the Scottish Amateur), Paisley and District and East Kilbride Youth league. Typically, we have 1 or 2 teams for each secondary age group.

In recent years, we have provided a number of players to professional clubs including Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and Raith Rovers.

We currently have over 80 volunteer coaches, all of whom hold, or are working towards SFA Certificates and qualifications.

Due to the increasing popularity of the Soccer Centre, we are always keen to welcome new coaches to the Club - qualifications and experience are less important to us than enthusiasm and the willingness to encourage the football ethos and fair play ethics that the Soccer Centre tries to promote.

If you may be interested, why not contact of the existing coaches for more information or drop us an e-mail (secretary@giffnocksoccercentre.co.uk). We look forward to hearing from you.
